Camille D. Ford is a journalist, author, and playwright based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Veteran Excellence Magazine, a national publication delivering long-form journalism since September 2025.

Known to her readers as The Honey Badger. She is also the author of Articles of Commitment: The Bylaws of Modern Romance, releasing in August 2026.

Her writing life started long before any masthead. She began by writing openly about her own life on Facebook, where a growing audience taught her the power of honest storytelling.

That drive carried her into professional journalism, where she covered identity, culture, and equity for QCity Metro, Charlotte's oldest Black-owned digital news publication.

What It Cost

Her expertise didn't come from a boardroom, staff meetings, or networking events. It came from survival. A corporate layoff, a marriage marked by domestic violence, and being conned out of thousands of dollars across her publishing ventures took a heavy toll.

Exhausted by the financial and personal struggles, she gave up on her creative work entirely.

She does not tell her story for sympathy. She tells it because she knows exactly what it costs a woman to unapologetically speak the truth about her life — and she has paid that cost more than once.

To her readers, Camille is the Honey Badger, and the name fits. The honey badger doesn't size up a threat before it moves. It doesn't back down from anything bigger than it. It gets knocked down and gets right back up. That's the temperament she writes with, and the one that carried her through the layoff, the marriage, and the losses.

Somewhere in the middle of rebuilding, she started writing again on her own terms. She pulled Peace Without Measures to prepare a second edition and moved forward with Articles of Commitment, a framework that borrows the language of governance, applicants, audits, contracts, and breaches, and applies it to modern dating. Not to make love cold, but to make it defensible. Eighty-three principles across nine Articles, built on one idea: you are the evaluator, and you always were.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a gospel stage play written by Camille D. Ford, produced by Big Faith Productions, a two-time ACE Award winner. The production brings Camille's voice to the stage and the choir is a tribute to her twin sister, a personal thread woven into the work's larger story.
